Why to certify
The products that successfully pass the testing process are assigned with the (y) label of repairability. This way, the consumer knows he can repair his product easily and affordably. The label also expresses the commitment of you, the Producer, to responsibility to the consumer and to the environment.
Some of the benefits of certifying your Product are direct, others are due to the consumer´s satisfaction.
The main goal of this certification is the reduction in waste, use of virgin resources and associated environmental, human and societal impacts. The repairability represents the innermost cycle of the circular economy, meaning that the lowest energy and less resources are needed to bring the product back to use again.
“The actions of companies have significant impacts on the lives of citizens in the EU and around the world. Not just in terms of the products and services they offer or the jobs and opportunities they create, but also in terms of working conditions, human rights, health, the environment, innovation, education and training. For this reason, citizens rightly expect that companies understand their positive and negative impacts on society and the environment. And, therefore, prevent, manage and mitigate any negative impact that they may cause, including within their global supply chain. Living up to this duty is commonly known as 'corporate social responsibility' (CSR).” source: European Comission
The sustainability demands of the buyers grow with their consciousness and awareness. According to the Edelman 2018 Earned Brand Report, "Brands are now being pushed beyond their classic business interests to become advocates for a better society. The belief-driven mindset has gone mainstream. Belief-Driven Buyers are now the majority in every market surveyed, across all age groups and all income levels.”
Products that are repairable are considered as products with high quality and reliability, and consumers tend to favour them. The repairability is a specific and practical aspect, which can strengthen your brand and provide a competitive advantage. The label (y) of Repairably will assign the repairable product.
Position your products as in line with the circular economy principles, and ahead of regulations. The circular economy is getting more ground every day. With the European Green Deal, the actual and upcoming Ecodesign package, the EN45554 standard and other regulations, that require the repairability of products, it is becoming an obligation to at least consider and evaluate the repairability. Repairably gives you the opportunity to become a pioneer in your market.
The products certified as Repairably are presented in media, including social media, articles, or TV shows. The certification can open new opportunities in new geographical locations or consumer segments.
The third party certification, or Type I environmental labeling according to ISO 14020, is the only environmental labeling actually trusted by the consumers. It allows not only to communicate about the product in a trustworthy way, but it also provides an obvious evidence at the repairably.com webpage, where all the components, tools and repair guides become available to the consumer.
By providing the consumer with information, spare parts, and repair manuals, the consumer not only knows he can trust the producer of his certified product, but he also stays in touch with the producer when looking for spare parts or other product related information.
